Methylene blue is a well-studied compound and an FDA-approved pharmaceutical (for a blood condition called methemoglobinemia). At low doses it is studied as an alternative mitochondrial electron carrier that may support cellular energy production. Most cognitive and metabolic evidence to date is early or preclinical.
